Launch of Eastern African Regional Bioeconomy Portal 21st October 2020 The Lake Turkana fishery is comprised of the Nile perch, Nile tilapia, and Labeo horie. The fishery directly employs about 3000 fishers and yields about 4000 tons of fish per year.

Providing regular data for policymakers to monitor the development of the bioeconomy and accordingly to support the implementation of the EAC Regional Bioeconomy Strategy. This will enable the EAC region to regularly assess the progress and impact of the bioeconomy and the observatory to be one stop access to data, knowledge and intelligence on bioeconomy in the eastern Africa Region.
